JEFF KOONS "INFLATABLE FLOWER & BUNNY", 1995
Caviar20 has a particular interest in sculptors. Jeff Koons, as polemic as he is, is one of the 20th century’s most important and audacious sculptors.
This print celebrates one of his early assemblages dating back to the late 1970’s.
During this early chapter of his career Koons was continuing a tradition of exploring/presenting/elevating mass-produced items similar to Marcel Duchamp, Salvador Dali and Andy Warhol.
Playful and prescient “Inflatable Flower & Bunny” gives a taste of the large scale, meticulously realized creations that Koons creates in the 1990’s and beyond such as his giant balloon dogs and Bilbao’s Puppy.
More recently, the actual "Inflatable Flower & Bunny" sculpture was included in his massive retrospective at the Whitney in 2014. It currently is on display at the Broad Collection in Los Angeles.
Over the course of his career Koons has created a limited number of prints. This affordable work by one of the most valuable artists of our day, is a celebration of one of his best early works.
