LOUISE NEVELSON "COLLEGIATE" 1972

LOUISE NEVELSON "COLLEGIATE" 1972

Caviar20 is excited to be offering this fantastic tabletop sculpture by the inimitable Louise Nevelson - one of the most revered and unique sculptors of the 20th century.

In the 1970's Nevelson began to "work smaller" and created a handful of editioned sculptures in both metal or acrylic. Nevelson was notably curious about working in other materials and she had a brief but fruitful exploration with acrylic and plexiglass.

"Collegiate" is a striking table-top sculpture that appears to be a decal or award from some future society. Like the best of Nevelson's work, there are allusions to tribal art and utopian or post-apocalyptic architecture.

We are especially impressed with the condition of this work. The acrylic frame is in very good condition, which is exceptionally hard to come by considering that this work is over fifty years old.
